“Magnificat” Concert for the Month of the Rosary by the Macao Catholic Culture Association Successfully Performed

The “Magnificat” Concert for the Month of the Rosary, organized by the Associação Católica Cultural de Macau (ACCM) and funded by the Cultural Development Fund of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, was held at the St Joseph’s Seminary Church on October 5, 2024.   The guests who attended the event included Ms. Wong Oi Leng of Cultural Development Fund, Ms. Cheong Pui Kei of Cultural Affairs Bureau, Bishop Stephen Lee Bun Sang, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Macao and Chairman of ACCM, and other prestigious guests.

October is the month of Our Lady of the Rosary in the Catholic Church, a month especially dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.  During this month, the Church encourages the faithful to recite the Rosary and meditate on the life and mystery of Christ in order to understand the role of Mary in the plan of salvation.  The Associação Católica Cultural de Macau is honored to invite Vox Antiqua, a renowned choir from Hong Kong specialising in sacred music, to perform in Macao for the “Magnificat” Concert for the Month of the Rosary, presenting a number of choral and organ works dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, including Antonio Vivaldi's setting of the Magnificat, the canticle that Mary herself proclaimed.

The “Magnificat” Concert for the Month of the Rosary hopes to inspire in the audience a deeper understanding of the meaning of the Month of Our Lady of the Rosary and the Virgin’s love for God through sacred music.
